Casualty spoilers: Charlie Fairhead FIRED as he covers up Nurse Duffy's dementia?

Tonight’s instalment of Casualty saw Charlie (played by Derek Thompson) try to assist Nurse Duffy (Cathy Shipton) as he asked her to complete paperwork instead of help out the ED.

Duffy didn’t seem to keen but she was aware the department was busy and she didn’t want to make any mistakes.

However, she also didn’t appear to be too happy she was being hidden away as Charlie feared her diagnosis could lead to her harming a patient.

And, Charlie’s behaviour didn’t go down too well with the emergency department staff when he called a meeting at the end of the episode.

Following an incredibly stressful and busy day in the ED, he asked everyone to gather around.

But one medic, Jade Lovall (Gabriella Leon), was spotted chatting away to a friend instead of listening to Charlie.

He called her over and insisted it there wasn’t time for her to be making plans when there was a busy department to run.

However, as he issued his warning, Jade spotted Duffy leaving and called Charlie out on it.

She hit back demanding to know why his “missus” got to leave early but she was scolded for chatting.

It was then that Charlie snapped and branded Jade “mediocre” and “lazy” in front of the whole department.

Jade certainly wasn’t impressed and it wouldn’t be surprising if she lodged a complaint against Charlie.

If she did, Charlie may be forced to reveal he allowed Duffy to leave early due to her diagnosis.

But that could land him in even ore trouble if it is revealed he let Duffy continue to work despite knowing she could harm someone.

Elsewhere, Dr Hudson (Genesis Lynea) will face tough competition from new locus doctor Will Noble (Jack Nolan).

He makes an impression on the ward but Archie doesn’t think he’s a good doctor and doubts his abilities.

After treating a cancer patient, Will agrees to meet the youngster to play video games.

But when he is dragged onto another case Archie was taking care of, he breaks his promise to his patient.

Archie calls him out on missing his appointment to chill with the teen and keep him company as he received chemotherapy.

Wanting to take a stand against Archie, Will goes on to apply for a full time role to rile the medic up.

Actor Jack teased: “They don’t get off to a fantastic start and it lays the foundations of quite a rocky relationship moving forwards.”

Casualty continues Saturday on BBC One at 8.30pm.
