Boxing news: Anthony Joshua fight WILL happen ‘at the right time’ – Deontay Wilder

The Bronze Bomber was criticised last week for turning down DAZN’s $100million multi-fight offer as he continues to making negotiations difficult.

With Anthony Joshua already signed with the streaming service, they even included two bouts with the Watford-born star as part of their proposal to secure his American television rights.

But the wait will now go on for the heavyweight contest that every boxing fan wants to see.

Joshua will take on Jarrell Miller in New York on June 1 at Madison Square Garden and reassess his options after the fight.

Meanwhile Deontay Wilder has been ordered to defend his WBC belt against Dominic Breazeale in May after plans for a rematch with Tyson Fury broke down.

The 33-year-old has since defended his decision and claimed that he wants to make the fight which he is sure will happen in the right time.

“If everything can be worked out that would be amazing. The conversation isn’t ever closed. Nothing is ever out of the conversation,” Wilder told Richard Poxon’s Poxcast.

“Sometimes things take time and ego plays a part, but things come together at the right time.

“I believe in the right appointed time. I can tell you right now that I’m 33 and this is my time.

“Everything that’s owed to me, will come two-times fold. You all going to be a witness to see it.”

Wilder also confirmed earlier in the week that the decision to reject DAZN boiled down to the fact he would not be given a 50/50 split against AJ.

The Alabaman then made it clear that the contest will happen once one key agreement is made.

“How can you do negotiations, a deal, if we don’t know what the other party is doing? Whatever the fight was worth, let’s say $3, and you give me $1 and he gets the rest of the pot – I’m lowering my standards,” he told The Schmo. “That’s not right to me

“Like I said, and I’ll say it again, the only way this fight is going to happen is if it’s 50/50. I don’t care what it is.

“At this point in time, it ain’t even about the belts. I’m the hottest, most talked about fighter in the world right now and I got one belt.

“I got the one belt that means more than all the other belts. That’s that green WBC belt. The most precious and beautiful belt in boxing.”

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed in a recent interview with iFL that his client does not want to vacate any of his belts, issuing his ambition to make a fight with Wilder happen later this year.
