UFC news: Conor McGregor coach on retirement, Khabib return date, Robert Whittaker latest

UFC News – Conor McGregor coach talks retirement

Conor McGregor’s head coach John Kavanagh has admitted he’s in the dark over his most famous student’s future following his shock retirement announcement earlier this week.

Alongside an Instagram picture of himself and ‘The Notorious’, Kavanagh wrote: “Not that long ago but feels like a different lifetime.

“2 lads (1 with a dodgy lip ring) travelling economy around the world trying to make a dream become reality.

“I don’t know what the future holds but I do know because of @thenotoriousmma I’ve done more in the last 5 years than I would have ever imagined I’d do in a lifetime #grateful.”

Dana White gives Khabib Nurmagomedov update

UFC president Dana White has claimed lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will return to the Octagon in the autumn.

“He’ll be back in September,” White said during an appearance on the UFC Unfiltered Podcast.

“It’s one of the things with him anyways, he’s on suspension and then he doesn’t fight during Ramadan. That puts him at September.”

Robert Whittaker provides injury update

UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker has revealed he’s resumed full training.

Whittaker had been on the sidelines with a collapsed bowel and an internal hernia, which forced him out of his UFC 234 bout with Kelvin Gastelum at the eleventh hour.

But a little over a month-and-a-half after his unfortunate withdrawal, ‘The Reaper’ is back in the gym.

“Very happy to be back into full training now!!” Whittaker wrote on Instagram on Thursday.

“Thanks to all my team and supporters for everything.”
