EastEnders spoilers: Hayley Slater to RETURN? Cherry's mum's fate revealed in brutal twist

EastEnders fans last saw Hayley Slater (played by Katie Jarvis) on screen earlier this year after she had given birth to baby Cherry.

Following months of keeping the dark secret of Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) being her daughter’s biological father, the truth finally surfaced.

And it caused her life to spiral out of control.

Last month, Hayley was admitted to a psychiatric hopsital after multiple suicide attempts, but fled after leaving only a note for Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace).

With there being no hints from the other character’s storyline over her return, fans were wondering what has happened to her.

And her continual on-screen absence has provoked many to take to Twitter and ask Katie if she is returning.

Earlier this month she replied to a fan and said: “If I had an answer to a question I would answer it. If I haven’t replied to something generally it’s because I have no response to put. Sorry x.”

Nevertheless, an EastEnders source as put the rumours to bed and claimed they know the truth about Hayley’s future.

According to reports from Digital Spy, the insider told them the soap has no current or future plans for Katie and her character Hayley to make a comeback.

Therefore, Hayley’s hasty retreat last month, leaving baby Cherry in the care of the Slaters, could potentially be her final scenes.

Express.co.uk has contacted a representative at BBC for comment.

And according to Metro.co.uk, she was only ever going to be in Walford to be part of Alfie’s storyline.

Fans are not happy with this decision and some have taken to Twitter to comment.

One said: “I’m gutted, I loved Hayley. But maybe she could make a return in the future? #KatieJarvis #EastEnders.”

“Wow this is really disappointing news – why would they get rid of such a popular character,” another questioned.

A third stated: “I miss Hayley. I hope she comes back to eastenders soon.”

“If Hayley was going to leave #EastEmders then Alfie should’ve kept Cherry. Makes no sense for Kat to bring up her cousin and cheating husband’s baby,” someone remarked.

Meanwhile there is another change to the soap with tonight’s televisions scheducling.

It comes as EastEnder’s usual 8pm slot is no more as BBC One has decided to push back the latest instalment by 30 minutes.

Therefore fans will have to make sure to tune in at a later time to ensure they don’t miss out on the drama.

EastEnders airs tonight at 8.30pm on BBC One.
