Russia WARNING: Military exercise DESTROY ‘enemy’ targets in brutal drills

The huge military exercise in Russia began on March 25 and involves about 10,000 soldiers and more than 2,000 vehicles. The report from the district said: “Today during the practical stage of the massive exercise at the Tsugol Range in the Trans-Baikal Region an air group from the Eastern Military District destroyed important facilities of the hypothetical enemy.” The air defences “destroyed Su-25 attack planes with unguided missiles, and Su-24 and Su-34 bombers struck strategically important facilities, in particular command posts and communication centres”.

Russia also staged huge land, air and sea drills in the annexed Crimean peninsular on Wednesday involving ships and aircrafts.

These drills took place just days before the presidential election in the Ukraine.

In December, the Russian Defence Minister said Moscow will increase combat capabilities in response to the US withdrawing from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty.

Sergey Shoygu said the country will conduct 4,000 military exercises of different scales, as well as 8,500 combat exercises in 2019.

The Eastern Military District is one of five military districts of the Russian Armed Forces.

In 2018 troops from Beijing took part at the Tsugol training range in a bid to improve Chinese-Russian military relations, as well as to prevent Chinese concern about military exercises near the border.

This comes as Kyrgyzstan’s troops hold joint drills with the Russian combat aviation teams to practice marching and being on combat duty.

Russian military officials have arrived in Venezuela this week to discuss equipment, maintenance, training and strategy, which has prompted speculation about how much support Moscow is offering President Nicolas Maduro.

US secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, has called on Russia to “cease its unconstructive behaviour” by supporting Maduro.
