Google Pixel 3 – Huge details about this phone's new budget rival may have just leaked

Google Pixel 3 is the American tech giant’s newest and best flagship smartphone.

Pixel 3 is easily one of the most capable Android devices around thanks to its incredible camera system and intuitive software.

The Google handset released in November and is priced at a premium.

The standard Pixel 3, that has a smaller display and battery, starts at £739 and the Pixel 3 XL is priced from £869.

However, myriad reports and leaks have suggested Google is planning the grand unveiling of a cheaper Pixel 3 model that could forgo some premium features in exchange for a more appealing price point.

Murmurings of a more affordable Pixel 3 first emerged back in November when Russian outlet Rozetked showed claimed images of the device.

The alleged handset was shown with noticeable bezels around its display and a plastic rear.

Interestingly, a headphone jack was shown on the phone, a port not present on recent Pixel products.

Back then it was speculated the Google device could be called a Pixel 3 Lite.

However, more recent rumours have suggested Google is planning to release two new affordable phones that could be called the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL.

Last month Nikkei appeared to add further credence to the idea Google is planning a cheaper Pixel handset.

The outlet, citing sources familiar with the matter, stated the product is “part of an aggressive push into hardware”.

A new report from WinFuture has also discussed a budget Pixel 3 and has stated both could be revealed soon.

The German publication insisted the names of the handsets will be the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL.

Moreover, it was declared the pair will come with 64GB of storage and be made available in three colour options.

In addition to black and white, it was said the new products will come in an “iris” finish.

The word iris can be used to describe a tone that is between blue and violet in the colour spectrum.

If true, this means the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL could flaunt an aesthetic not seen on previous Google handsets.

WinFuture speculated the budget handsets could cost over €450 (£385.60).

The outlet added the XL version of the product is expected to cost slightly more than the standard 3a.

It is worth noting Google has not commented on the existence of a cheaper Pixel device.
