Chris Evans: Bob Harris hints at REAL reason Virgin Radio host left BBC Radio 2

On the final day of his BBC Radio 2 Breakfast show, Chris Evans, 52, told his listeners he was “sad” to leave, but craved “the uncertainty”.He said: “I’d like to thank my wife Natasha [Shishmanian], my gravity, my compass, my guiding light. I crave the uncertainty, but you can only do that against a backdrop of certainty and security.” He added it was an “exciting day for everyone” as he prepared for his move to Virgin Radio.

Chris’ pal Bob Harris OBE, 72, who is fronting the Under The Apple Tree sessions with Wildwood Kin, has now spoken out on his pal’s exit.

The Country Show with Bob Harris presenter exclusively told Express.co.uk: “I was sad to see him go.

“I’m at Radio 2 and he’s not anymore so in that respect you don’t really want colleagues who you’ve worked with for years – to not be working with them again.

“But obviously it’s Chris’ choice so it’s up to him what he wants to do. I wish him all the great success in the future.”

Bob went on to describe his colleague as a “free spirit,” adding: “I think that’s another thing about his decision to leave Radio 2.

“Just when you think everything is settled… ‘No I want a new challenge’.

“That’s always driven him to new challenges all the time. He just drives, making it up as he goes along.

“It’s an incredible thing. The energy around him is amazing.”

Bob recently reunited with Chris on the latter’s new breakfast show, but admitted he didn’t get to catch up properly with his pal.

He added: “To be honest we didn’t really get much time to talk. I just spoke to him about the tour.”

Elsewhere, Bob has handpicked the talent for his upcoming nationwide tour Under The Apple Tree sessions with Wildwood Kin.

Bob created the sessions for up-and-coming music artists who will have the chance to showcase their talents on stage in their local towns.

Speaking of the upcoming gigs, he said: “I’m very excited it’s going to be amazing.

“We’ve got Wildwood Kim, they came into the studio for the first time around probably about three years ago.

“I’ll be at a couple of them. I’m really really looking forward to it.”

Bob Harris’ Under The Apple Tree sessions with Wildwood Kin tours the UK between 25 April – 07 May 2019. Tickets are available at LiveNation.co.uk.
