Richard Osman: ‘We’re like 14th century villagers!’ Pointless host addresses Brexit news

Richard Osman, 48, hasn’t shied away from weighing in on the Brexit debate, as he took to Twitter today to share his outlook with his 772,000 followers. The Pointless host initiated the conversation by encouraging fans to retweet his post if they related to his confusion about the current political situation in the UK. He wrote: “RT if you’re just pretending that you understand what’s happening with Brexit.” The presenter added: “I’m not convinced that anyone on either side is certain what’s happening

“We’re like 14th century villagers, arguing about the best way to fish the moon out of a lake.”

Completing the series of tweets, Richard quipped about the country coming together to agree on less important matters.

He joked: “At least we can all agree on one thing. It’s great news that they’re adding Double Deckers to ‘Miniature Heroes’ this year.”

Richard’s remarks caused a stir amongst his followers, who headed to the comments section to share their opinions.

One included the prime minister in the conversation and quipped: “Retweeted by Theresa May.”

Others agreed: “I’ll freely admit I haven’t got a clue and have lost the will to live.”

Another added: “I’ve been pretty good at understanding until the last 2 weeks with all the MPs voting for things then changing their minds then voting for them again, I’ve lost the thread now.”

In response to the analogy about the “14th century villagers”, a fan remarked: “That’s insulting to 14th century villagers.”

While another commented: “Yes but at least one of them would have come up with a plan.”

Others chose to reference Richard’s joke about chocolates, with one fan writing: “What! ‘Double Deckers’ in with the ‘Miniature Heroes’? Without holding an indicative vote? This country gets more like a dictatorship every day…”

The BBC favourite’s analysis was timed perfectly as MPs are currently assessing their options for Brexit ahead of another vote.

PM Theresa May has also said that she may still hold a third vote on her withdrawal deal this week.

Article 50 has now officially been extended for a three-month period following requests made to the EU.

Elsewhere, Richard continued to embrace his humorous side as he informed about a special edition episode of Pointless.

Pointless, The Good, the Bad and the Bloopers aired on March 23 and featured Richard and his co-host Alexander Armstrong struggling to contain their laughter during hilarious outtakes of the quiz show.

He shared a link to the episode on BBC iPlayer with the comment: “This was the highest rating show on TV last night, and, if you missed it, a lot of fun. Enjoy!”

Pointless airs weekdays at 5.10pm on BBC One.
