Rachel Riley Twitter: ‘Don’t tell Pasha’ Countdown star addresses ‘crush’ claim

Rachel Riley, 33, regularly battles with trolls on Twitter for her criticisms of the Labour party and leader Jeremy Corbyn amid the ongoing anti-Semitism row.

The Countdown star has previously stated she has no political allegiance but told the publication she would not vote for Labour now.

The mathematician previously told The Times newspaper she believes the party is “actively encouraging the abuse of people who are standing up to this”.

Jeremy Corbyn has strongly denied allegations of anti-Semitism during the controversy that has ripped through his party.

And her messages online caught the attention of one Twitter user, who insisted her attention directed towards the MP is for a different reason.

The person said she believes the Countdown star must have a “crush” on the Leader of the Opposition.

She wrote to Rachel: “I’ve been watching this situation, it’s definitely a strange obsession and I draw only one possible explanation @RachelRileyRR must have a little crush on @jeremycorbyn bless.”

Rachel replied to the message in jest as she said to not tell her boyfriend and Strictly Come Dancing professional, Pasha Kovalev.

“She’s cracked it, don’t tell Pash,” she joked alongside a “sh” emoji and a red rose.

Many of Rachel’s 627,000 followers loved her witty comeback with one joking back: “Your secret is safe with us!!”

“I mean, each to their own I guess,” said another, alongside laughing emojis.

Elsewhere, Rachel recently opened up about her life with Pasha, 39, as she spilled she’s attempted to learn his native language, Russian.

Appearing on The Jonathan Ross Show, the maths whizz said one of the first phrases she learned in Russian was to how to ask for a kiss.

Revealing all, she divulged: “I am learning Russian, I’m doing it with an online app, it’s really homemade with Clip Art from the nineties to explain stuff.

“It teaches you how kids learn. My spelling is absolutely appalling but you pick it up as you go.

“The first thing I learnt was [the Russian for] ‘Give me a kiss’ and then from the app you learn things like ‘I open the window with a crowbar.’”

Rachel went on to say it was “disconcerting” to hear Pasha and his friends speak in Russian when she didn’t understand the language.

She added: “The first time I met the boys, I spoke no Russian at all.

“It’s really disconcerting, a bunch of thirty-something boys talking and giggling and drinking and I have no idea what they’re talking about.”

Rachel and Pasha met whilst they were partnered up together on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2016.

The following year, the couple announced they were together after Rachel’s split from husband Jamie Gilbert.
