Coronation Street Carla: How old is Carla in Coronation Street?

ITV soap Coronation Street has seen some big scenes recently after the catastrophic collapse of the Underworld Factory which came crashing down. The accident left nurse Rana Habeeb (played by Bhavna Limbachia) dead as her fiancée heartbroken Kate Connor (Faye Brookes) cradled her body. The fallout from the factory collapse will see a number of Weatherfield residents with blood on their hands, most notably businesswoman Carla Connor (Alison King).

How old is Carla Connor on Coronation Street?

Carla’s age in Coronation Street is unknown but soap star Alison is 46-years-old.

Alison has been a firm fixture on Coronation Street as Carla for quite some time after she was first introduced in 2006.

During her time on the soap, she’s had some explosive storylines that have included her tumultuous relationship with Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne), a gambling addiction and her long-running feud with Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford).

Alison previously took a break from Coronation Street in 2016 where she took a sabbatical to try other projects before making a return to the role.

The character was re-introduced the following year in December as Carla came back, bringing lots of drama with her.

Carla is going to be feeling the heat on Coronation Street in the coming weeks when she will fall under suspicion as the culprit who caused the roof collapse.

Speaking about the plot line, Alison said: “She blames herself, she believes she is the person to blame and so do other people, including the investigators.”

She continued: “It is the breaking point, and she has a complete breakdown, it is cumulative of all the life trauma that has happened to her.

WHO CAUSED THE UNDERWORLD FACTORY COLLAPSE?

“She is that strong person who has carried on for too long and not asked for help or dealt with anything properly; her upbringing, finding her father, the rape, losing the baby, the disastrous relationships, the death of Aidan. She is at snapping point.”

Reflecting on working on the emotional storyline, the actress explained: “It is difficult and I want to get it right so I am doing some research about how it manifests itself and how paranoia can set it.

“Everybody is against her but it would be tenfold in her mind because of her mental health.

“This is just the start of it for Carla and it will be interesting to see what sort of woman she is when she eventually comes out the other side.

“She is paying for what happened at the factory whether it was actually her fault or not.”

CORONATION STREET CONNOR FAMILY TREE

Carla is just one of a number of suspects who could be held responsible for the accident.

Another person potentially in the frame is Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill), who could be responsible in some capacity for the collapse.

There have been hints he wanted to take revenge on Carla and blames her for the breakdown of his relationship with Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh). But would Robert really have resorted to such extreme means?

One other big suspect is Gary Windass (Mikey North), Carla’s handyman who was drafted in by her to do a quick fix on the factory roof. Gary will be feeling guilty knowing he didn’t properly mend the roof which could have led to the collapse.

Coronation Street airs on ITV tonight at 7.30pm & 8.30pm
