Rachel Riley: Countdown star reduced to giggles in VERY bawdy chat about private parts

The Countdown presenter, 32, who is a staple on the line-up for the Channel 4 show’s post-watershed spin-off, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, revealed an interesting fact about the clitoris after talk turned to the etymology of words. Rachel Riley’s co-star and Dictionary Corner favourite Susie Dent, 54, told the cast how one question she had received recently had been from an “elderly lady” who asked: “What does the ‘G’ stand for in G spot?” Amid titters from the studio audience, host Jimmy Carr, 46, replied: “What does it stand for?” Susie obligingly explained: “It stands for a guy called Ernst Gräfenberg who was the lucky guy who found it.”

Jimmy and Cats Does Countdown captains Sean Lock, 55, and Jon Richardson, 36, laughed.

Guest contestant and comedienne Sara Pascoe, 37, then chipped in with an unexpected addition to the explanation.

“There’s a woman called Beverly Whipple who actually discovered it and didn’t want it named after her,” she said.

“It was going to be called Whipple’s Tickle but she didn’t want her name on it.”

Sara also said there is no part of the vagina which is named after a person which isn’t named after a man.

“I’ve got another good vagina fact,” Rachel interjected, to the amusement of her co-stars.

“Apparently the G spot isn’t actually a real thing but the clitoris is, like, 10cm long,” she informed them.

“Wow, okay,” Jimmy said, looking surprised.

“And is it true that it was originally called the Clitor-Chris after the guy called Chris who found it first?” Jon quipped.

Appearing to move on with the show, Jimmy then proceeded to introduce mathematician Rachel.

“In charge of the number’s, it’s Rachel Riley!” he announced, before pretending to read from the cue card: “Rachel’s clitoris is 10cm long.”

Rachel let her head fall forward as she laughed loudly.

Struggling to compose herself, she held her hands out and nodded in agreement.

Rachel first found fame when she replaced Carol Vorderman, 58, after the Countdown stalwart stepped down following 26 years on the show.

Since 2012 when it first aired, she has also appeared on the comedy spin-off Cats Does Countdown.

Countdown airs weekdays at 2.10pm on Channel 4.
