Jeremy Clarkson: Grand Tour host in epic swipe at viewer amid ‘serious journalism’ jibe

Jeremy Clarkson, 58, who hosts The Grand Tour alongside his co-presenters James May and Richard Hammond, did not hold back after he addressed claims their Amazon show is only full of funny quips. A fan certainly felt his wrath after they tweeted: “The @thegrandtour is a great show. But do more of the serious journalism like the Jim Clark segment. Fascinating stuff! Well done! @RichardHammond @MrJamesMay @JeremyClarkson.” In view of his 7.14 million followers, the presenter said: “You mean like the Lancia/Audi thing and the GT40 piece and the Ford film the week after next and and and…” His reply generated a big response, gaining 2,300 likes as fans of the Amazon Prime series dismissed the critic’s claims.

One person tweeted: “Grand Tour is extremely awesome this season so far. Keep up the good work!”

Another person replied: “Thought the Lancia/Audi film was great. Was a big Group B rally fan back then as a kid. Bet you could do hours on that subject.”

A third person commented: “@JeremyClarkson You are right. In your funny show you always have segments of serious news and discoveries! Grand Thank for it 🙂 I dream that in the show your cars are not affected as well as you!”

Jeremy has fronted the car show for the past three years after the first episode aired in 2016.

Since then the former BBC presenter has switched gears to be the new face for the revamped version of ITV’s Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

The hit show was previously hosted by radio DJ Chris Tarrant.

The reboot saw the introduction of a new lifeline called Ask The Host last year.

But Jeremy was not happy contestants got to choose him to help with the answer on the ones he has no clue about.

Speaking to Radio Times, he said: “Occasionally I accidentally knew something, but not as often as I would have liked,” he said.

“It’s so annoying, because sometimes, you’ll get to the £125,000 question and you go, I know this.”

He continued: “But they’ve already asked you and used the lifeline on something like the Kardashians that you don’t know.”

Earlier today the presenter revealed he had gone on a hike but advised his followers it was not the best way to make any decisions.

He tweeted: “Today, I went for a ‘hike’. It was intolerable and my head was full of mad thoughts.

“No-one should make decisions while doing such a thing.”

A fan queried: “Where too Jeremy?”

To which he replied: “That’s the stupid thing about a hike. You just end up where you started.”

The Grand Tour season 3 releases new episodes every Friday and is available to stream on Amazon Prime.
