Coronation Street: Is Coronation Street on tonight? When does Coronation Street return?

ITV soap fans are eager to know when Coronation Street will be making a comeback. Coronation Street was recently rocked by the Underworld Factory roof collapse which claimed the life of one person and left many more in hospital. The storyline is a huge one that has left viewers reeling as Weatherfield comes to terms with the accident.

Is Coronation Street on tonight?

No, is the short answer. Coronation Street will not be airing this evening (Monday, Match 25).

Instead, a repeat of ITV drama Vera will be airing between 8pm and 9pm tonight.

The ITV soap will be returning tomorrow (Wednesday, March 27) for a double bill special with two half-hour episodes at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.

The last episode of Coronation Street aired on Sunday (March 24) as two episodes were broadcast back-to-back at 8pm.

CORONATION STREET BARLOW FAMILY TREE

Coronation Street also didn’t air last week on Thursday and also not Friday – the latter was due to the football, which was aired on ITV instead.

The soap will then be airing later on in the week as the series continues to deal with the fallout of factory collapse.

Many fans had thought Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) would end up perishing after falling through the hole in the roof, however a different character met a tragic end.

Coronation Street fans were left shocked by the death of Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia), who got caught in the collapse and died.

CORONATION STREET CONNOR FAMILY TREE

Her fiancée Kate Connor (Faye Brookes) was left devastated by the death as she could only hold onto Rana as she died in her arms.

Speaking about filming the scenes, soap star Brookes said: “It was so hard keeping it all secret and when it came to those final scenes I cried real tears. I had no voice the next day.”

“At one point I was actually retching because I was crying so much.”

She went on to tell the Daily Star: “The responsibility Bhavna and I have had since day one to do this love story, and to do it with truth and honestly and with a lot of heart, has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.

“I am so worried for the Kana fans because I love them. I need them to know that we are just as sad as them to say goodbye to that couple. It felt like Bhavna was actually breaking up with me.”

CORONATION STREET PLATT FAMILY TREE

The soap will also look at who was to blame for the collapse with some pointing to businesswoman Carla Connor (Alison King), who refused to pay out to get the roof repaired properly.

Gary Windass (Mikey North), meanwhile, will also be feeling the guilt for doing a botch job on the roof after Carla refused to get it fixed properly.

Then there’s Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) who is a potential suspect after he was publicly spurned by Carla with some wondering if he could be behind the collapse.

Coronation Street fans will have to tune in to see who was behind the accident and if all is as it seems.

Coronation Street airs on ITV tomorrow at 7.30 & 8.30pm
