Apple has had another hugely busy week.

Having launched a swathe of new devices over the past seven days, including new iPads and updated AirPods, it’s now unleashed some all-new services on the world.

These announcements include a Netflix-style streaming platform, gaming service and even its own credit card.

The news was announced during the firm’s March keynote at its headquarters in Cupertino and here’s everything that’s coming later this year.

APPLE TV+

There’s been a huge boom in online movie and TV content over the past few years and Apple clearly wants to take a bite out of this ever-growing market.

Netflix and Amazon currently dominate with millions of customers tuning in every day to binge on movies and original content.

However, Apple has made a serious statement about its plans to get viewers switching to its Apple TV+ service.

Although full details remain scarce we do know some of the names that will be producing and staring in its content.

Many of these Hollywood heroes took to the stage at the Steve Jobs theatre during yesterday’s keynote and include Steven Speilberg, J.J. Abrams, Jennifer Anniston, Reese Witherspoon, Steve Carell and Oprah Winfrey all revealing their commitment to new shows.

More will be announced later in the year when Apple officially releases the new service in over 100 countries.

There’s no word on price but expect all to be revealed in the coming months.

APPLE CARD

Apple could be about to shake up the banking market with a new service called Apple Card.

This credit card on your iPhone will allow you to buy things just like the US technology firm’s Apple Pay.

The only difference is that it won’t link to your current bank with Apple looking after all the payments and bills.

Apple says its news credit card will transform the entire experience by simplifying the application process, eliminating fees, encouraging customers to pay less interest and providing a new level of privacy and security.

Apple Card also offers a clearer and more compelling rewards program than other credit cards with Daily Cash, which gives back a percentage of every purchase as cash on customers’ Apple Cash card each day.

There’s also a very simple way to check your balance and pay your monthly balance straight from the iPhone.

Apple Card’s goal is to provide interest rates that are among the lowest in the industry and if a customer misses a payment, they will not be charged a penalty rate.

It’s launching in the summer this year with a UK rollout possibly coming later in 2019.

Apple Arcade

APPLE ARCADE

There’s some serious fun coming to your iPhone, Mac, iPad and Apple TV with the arrival of Apple Arcade.

This platform represents a new way for users to access the swathe of games present on the firm’s App Store.

The service does not require any streaming, instead, it serves as a way to install myriad titles that can be played with and without an internet connection.

Apple claims Arcade will launch with a roster of “over 100 new and exclusive games” and cited creators like Hironobu Sakaguchi, Ken Wong, Will Wright as being headline acts.

Apple has declared games played through Arcade will have no ads, ad tracking or feature in-app purchases.

The tech giant is helping to finance some of the developers making titles for the new service.

Apple Arcade does not have a firm release date but looks likely to launch in the autumn in over 150 countries.

No pricing details for Arcade were discussed.

APPLE NEWS+

Your Apple devices can now access a huge catalogue of content via something called Apple News+

Launching in the US first Apple has insisted News+ will feature over 300 magazines that include Esquire, National Geographic, Men’s Health and more.

The service will also provide access to a number of more traditional news outlet such as The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times and the Toronto Star.

Apple News+’s biggest appeal appears to be accessing a wealth of journalism from one place.

The tech giant has emphasised all magazine content has been optimised for viewing on iPhone, iPad and Mac hardware.

The service costs $9.99 per month in the US and $12.99 in Canada.

Apple News+ will only be available in the two regions initially.

However, the Cupertino-based company has confirmed the service will come to the UK and Australia later this year.

No precise release date was revealed at this time.
