Youtube NOT WORKING: Filters DOWN on Youtube – users voice frustration 'So ANNOYING'

YouTube’s search engine and filters are not working, according to frustrated users on Reddit. The filters and search engine section of the website seems to have been restricted, meaning users are unable to find exactly what they want. One user experienced trouble to get news on certain topics by searching them on YouTube before restricting the results to just show uploads from the correct date, week or month.

The user wrote the issues had been lasting for a few days days, asking fellow YouTuber users on Reddit: “Am i only one seeing this?

“I tried Android browsers, mobile and desktop mode, while logged in and logged out, even in win10 chrome.”

One user claimed it is unlikely YouTube will return the filters, saying: “I’m afraid they won’t return them.

“Broken search helps Youtube to censor video and decide what video to show on first place (from their partners), and what video completely hide from search.

“With filters, it’s impossible to censor because users can easily find out if certain video is censored and if it disappears from results.

“They hated their own filters, but now with NZ shooting they found a reason to disable them and push this change to the audience as ‘removing violence content’.”

Another said: “I mostly use this to watch videos of a game that’s only played by small-time YouTubers with only a handful of subscribers.

“And now I’m only getting hits for the few big YouTubers who have played it, who I’ve all watched already.

“But hey, censorship f****** over the little guy. Who would have ever seen that one coming?”

The problems seem to have started last week, with one YouTube user reporting it started on March 15.

A TeamYoutube Google employee responded to complaints over the problems, saying: “YouTube is aware the search/sorting functions aren’t working as expected – this is temporary and part of our efforts to better respond, review and remove graphic, violative content from YouTube.

“Thanks for your patience while we work through this.

“Will update this thread when these features are working normally again, feel free to subscribe for updates.”

Many Reddit users have mentioned the New Zealand attack video as a possible reason for the filters being down.

One user wrote: “It’s intentional, YouTube has disabled some search filters due the New Zealand shooting, to avoid new videos to spread before YouTube could ban them.”
