Star Wars 9: Mark Hamill confirms THIS about Luke Skywalker return ‘Don’t quote me’

The character – who died in 2017’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi – is expected to return in Force Ghost form in this December’s saga finale, which wrapped filming last month. Hamill has been quiet about what exactly his appearance will entail, but speaking on US TV last week he did at least let fans know one thing. It seems we’ll be getting a bearded Luke once again.

Talking about his new show Knightfall, in which he also sports facial fuzz, he told Jimmy Kimmel: “They glued the [Knightfall] beard on over my own beard.

“I had to keep the [his own] beard for something else.”

When a grinning Kimmel asked what he was referring to, Hamill said with a theatrical wink: “Well it’s NDA; that’s non-disclosure agreement! Don’t quote me…”

After Kimmel deduced that Luke would therefore be bearded in Episode 9, Hamill said: “I love driving Disney executives crazy because what are they going to do? Fire me?

“I’m in that really calming lull between the time after you make the movie and before it comes out.

“They don’t want you to say anything, and I’m good at that.

“But people are constantly saying, ‘when’s the trailer coming? What’s the title?’

“Nobody tells me anything!”

Episode 9’s title and trailer are strongly speculated to be set for unveiling at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago in April.

The fan event was when The Last Jedi revealed its first teaser trailer back in 2017, although its title had already been unveiled that January.

Hamill isn’t the only franchise veteran returning: Billy Dee Williams will be seen again as Lando Calrissian, while Carrie Fisher’s Leia will appear courtesy of unused footage from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.

Star Wars 9 is out on December 19 in the UK.
