Emmerdale CANCELLED: Fans forced to wait for next episode as soap dropped from schedule

Emmerdale will not be broadcast on ITV this evening as it makes way for England’s second Euro 2020 qualifier.

The ITV soap usually airs at 7pm but tonight it has been rescheduled as England prepare to kick off against Montenegro at 7.45pm.

Clive Tyldesley and Lee Dixon will be commentating as Mark Pougatch is on presenting duties.

The match means fans will have to wait until tomorrow evening to find out what happens next in the Dales.

It’s not just Emmerdale which has been cancelled – Coronation Street will also not air due to the football. However, fans got an extra dose of the latest news from Weatherfield with an hour-long episode yesterday evening.

Meanwhile, Emmerdale fans will be treated to an hour-long instalment to make up for tonight’s missing episode.

The synopsis for the next episode reads: “Rishi and Manpreet return with exciting news, Billy faces suspicion, and Charity spots an opportunity.”

It certainly won’t be a quiet visit to Emmerdale as it looks as though Jai Sharma (played by Chris Bisson) is in for a big shock.

Earlier this year, Jai was shocked to learn Manpreet Jutla (Rebecca Sarker) had money problems and was hiding it from his father Rishi (Bhaskar Patel) who she is dating.

Jai kept her problems a secret from his father but this week he could regret his decision.

Manpreet and Rishi have spent some time away from the village but will return with some big news.

The pair are set to announce they tied the knot in Las Vegas which will leave everyone in the family gobsmacked.

While Manpreet’s daughter Aiesha (Shila Iqbal), who shows up during the announcement, and Priya (Fiona Wade) are excited by the news, Jai is furious.

Fans have previously speculated the sweet factory boss has fallen for Manpreet – could that be why he’s so upset?

However, Jai may also be annoyed Rishi has married without knowing the truth about Manpreet’s problems.

Will he expose Manpreet’s money woes to his father and ruin their happiness? It certainly won’t go down well with the Sharma family.

Elsewhere in the village, it seems Maya Stepney’s (Louisa Clein) affair with school boy Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) could come to an end soon.

The teacher has well and truly sunk her claws into the youngster without her boyfriend and Jacob’s step-father David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) working out what she has been up to.

However, actor Matthew has teased it is about to come to an end very soon.

He told OK! magazine: “He’s naive to it and he thinks his relationship is going really well, but I’ve just read some scripts of when things take a turn for the worst and that will all be quite emotional.

“That’s when it’s going to be difficult for me. The storyline’s set to get darker which will be hard to play, particularly because I’m a dad.”

Emmerdale continues Tuesday on ITV at 7pm.
