Kym Marsh: Coronation Street's Michelle Connor left ‘bed-ridden’ after terrifying’ ordeal

Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh, 42, said she underwent tests at a hospital after feeling “awful” and is still waiting on results. Spilling all in her weekly column with OK! Magazine, she said: “I felt so awful I had to go to the Alexandra Hospital in Manchester. “I was shaking, I felt terrible and like I’d been hit by a truck. “They ran lots of tests on me and I’m still waiting for the results, but doctors think it could be Salmonella poisoning, which is really serious.”

The actress added her illness was “terrifying” and nothing she had experienced before.

She told the publication: “I was bed-ridden for four days.

“The whole family rallied around me, David and Emilie had to get Polly up and ready for school because I couldn’t get out of bed.”

Earlier this year, Kym announced she has left the cobbles after 13 years on the soap.

The actress revealed during her time away from the soap, she is keen to spend time with daughter Emilie who is currently pregnant with her first child.

Kym also divulged she is set to perform in Elf: A Christmas Spectacular later this year.

Speaking of her next move in her previous column, she divulged: “It’s the first step in a new chapter after Corrie and I’m excited.

“It’s nice to have something in the pipeline, as it is a bit nerve-wracking leaving a regular job after 13 years!”

The actress will star as Buddy’s girlfriend Jovie, who was played by Zooey Deschanel in the hit 2003 movie.

She previously told The Sun: “I am delighted to be getting back on stage and joining the cast of Elf this December.

“Elf is an iconic Christmas film and having seen the musical myself last year I am very excited to be part of this fun and heart-warming family show.”

Following the announcement of her soap exit, Kym was linked to reports she is to star on a reality show.

But the actress swiftly denied these claims, writing: “There were reports that I was going to appear in the next series of Strictly or I’m A Celeb.

“As wonderful as those shows are, I’m not leaving Corrie after thirteen years to do reality TV.”

Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
