Donald Trump brands Russia probe 'ILLEGAL' and sends STARK warning to Democrats

The president struck a victorious tone even though the report states that he was not cleared on the question of obstruction of justice. He claimed the allegations of collusion with Russia were, “an illegal takedown that failed.” The US President warned “somebody is going to be looking at the other side” during a speech on CNN.

Mr Trump may now seek to take political advantage of Mr Mueller’s conclusion and use it as a new line of attack against the Democrats ahead of the 2020 elections.

The President tweeted: “No collusion, no obstruction, complete and total exoneration.

“Keep America great!”

Vice President Mike Pence has called the Mueller report a “total vindication” of the president, disproving “reckless accusations by many Democrats and members of the media”.

Attorney General William Barr sent a four-page letter to the US Congress with his summary of the report by special counsel Robert Mueller into allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia and obstruction of justice by the President and others.

The Mueller investigation found no collusion between Trump or his election campaign and the Russian government.

Mr Barr also told Congress in the letter that while the report does not conclude that Trump committed a crime in relation to obstruction “it also does not exonerate him”.

Trump’s inner circle of family members and aides have declared him completely exonerated.

Republicans have openly celebrated the result.

Kellyanne Conway, a counselor to Mr Trump, said in a public message to the President: “Today you got a gift for the 2020 election.

The Democrats have reminded Trump that he has not been cleared of obstruction.

They claim there is still a congressional investigation underway into his conduct relating to a range of matters from campaign finance laws, to his taxes, to collusion and obstruction.
