Tom Jones grief: Singer reveals the ONE thing that saved him after wife's death

Sir Tom Jones lost his wife Linda in 2016 following a battle with lung cancer. The music legend has since admitted staring into the abyss after his partner of 59 years died. He told there were days where he could barely get out of bed and considered quitting his decades long career.

But after his son Mark urged Sir Tom to seek help, he turned to a therapist in Los Angeles.

The Welsh singer revealed how getting professional guidance helped him find a way out of the darkness.

Speaking to The Mirror in 2017, he explained: “Mark helped tremendously. He said ‘there is this lady you should see’. She counselled a lot of things.

“She said to me ‘You have got to carry on. If you don’t, you will die’.

“I thought of my family, my son, my daughter and my grandchildren – all of that.”

Linda died on April 10, 2016 at a hospital in Los Angeles.

She was surrounded by her longstanding husband and close family.

In the weeks that followed, the It’s Not Unusual star cancelled a series of concerts and even thought of quitting his career.

He said: “When my wife passed away, God bless her, I didn’t know whether I would make it.

But he later revealed it way staying busy who helped him get through the loss of his wife.

He said ahead of The Voice UK final in 2017: “There were days when I felt I couldn’t get up.

“You don’t want to get out of bed to start with.

“Time off would be death for me. The only time I’ll take off is when I die.

“I don’t take long periods of time off. I’m happier when I’m singing, than not.”

Sir Tom also revealed he would dream about his wife, saying: “I hear her voice. I see her a lot at night.

“When I dream she’s still here and then I wake up and she’s not, that’s the hardest.”

Tom Jones will be on The Voice again tonight (March 23) for as Knockout stage of the competition continues, and the remaining acts will have to be at their best as they fight to secure a place in the live Semi-Finals.
