Galaxy S9 shock – Owners of this Samsung flagship won't like this news one bit

If you own a Galaxy S9 there’s some news that you might not like to hear.

With Samsung having now released its new feature-packed Galaxy S10, the firm’s older flagship has lost much of its appeal.

That’s mainly due to the fact that the new S10 now comes fully loaded with a bunch of bonus extras that you won’t find on the S9 including a triple rear camera, bigger battery, faster processor and the ability to refill other devices using reverse charging technology.

With that huge update for the Galaxy brand arriving this month trade-in prices for the S9 had already started to take a tumble.

In fact, just last month you could have got almost £300 for your S9 with that cost dropping to £250 almost immediately the S10 was unveiled.

However, things have just got a whole lot worse for the S9 with prices for this device now dropping to an all-new low.

For example, MusicMagpie will now give owners of last year’s flagship just £210 for this phone – £90 less than a few weeks ago.

Speaking about the drop, Liam Howley, Chief Marketing Officer at musicMagpie, said: “While cars typically lose approximately 20% when driven off the lot, technology items can lose up to an average of 65% once they are taken out of the box, depending on the brand.

“It’s well documented in our bi-annual depreciation studies that iPhones hold their value better than Samsung devices.”

Although this value has plummeted there is some good news if you simply want to upgrade to the S10 or keep your current phone.

Samsung continues to offer customers £300 off their latest phone when you trade-in the S9 and things are also good for fans who don’t want to switch.

The Korean technology firm has just begun pushing out an update which not only brings improved security to the S9 but also adds a new camera feature to this device.

Spotted by the team at SamMobile, the update adds an all-new option when shooting pictures of your face which reduces the overall field of view.

This means that, just like the new Galaxy S10, you can now switch between the standard wider angle selfie mode and a more cropped image.

Ever since the Galaxy S9 was launched its front-facing camera only offered this wide shot which is great for group images by not so good if you just want a close-up of your head.
