Riverdale season 3 spoilers: Betty Cooper in danger after Edgar Evernever's arrival?

The musical episode The Heathers introduced Edgar to fans amongst a fanfare of dancing and musical performances and he has already made such an impact.

He arrived in Riverdale with his daughter Evelyn Evernever (played by Zoe de Grand’Maison) and is set to support Alice Cooper (Madchen Amick) in getting her life back on track after season two.

Now, the star has excited Riverdale fans even more telling Cosmopolitan: “It’s going to be a wild ride. Strap on your seatbelt.

“Edgar is a unique character. I think there are so many layers to peel back, so it’s a very slow burn on really discovering who this man is, what his background is, and where he comes from.”

Fans have been in meltdown since seeing the handsome actor on their screens and the news that he is sticking around to bring drama to their favourite TV series will only excite them further.

One Twitter user said after last night’s episode: “OMG CHAD MICHAEL MURRAY IN THE END OF THE EPISODE GAVE ME CHILLS! AAAAAAAAHHHH EDGAR EVERNEVER IS HEREEEEEEE!”

Another added: “Been contemplating stopping watching Riverdale and then they turn up with this week with Chad Michael Murray as this mysterious Edgar Evernever. Guess I’m still hooked.”

They loved his dramatic slow clap introduction after the Heathers play ended, teasing that this would be a character full of personality.

On that clap, actor Chad said: “I’ve always wanted to do that particular clap. It’s an interesting entrance for a character that we’ve been waiting so long to finally meet.

“You see the power he has over everybody and that he’s taking Riverdale by storm.”

He is true in that his arrival has been spoken about throughout season three.

Evernever is leader of The Farm, a cult dedicated to the belief in spiritual healing and slowly spreading their influence in Riverdale.

He was joined in his slow clap by other members of The Farm and viewers saw just how powerful he is and what sort of impact he will make.

Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) has been the only one worried about the cult’s influence and she probably has reason to be worried.

The synopsis for the next episode teases potential problems for Betty and may kick off the “wild ride” to come from Edgar: “Betty enlists Cheryl’s help to infiltrate The Farm.”

Edgar’s introduction has been just what fans needed after the sadness brought about by the tragic death of actor Luke Perry and the debate about what should happen with his character Fred Andrews.

Bosses have promised they will address the situation in light of Luke’s death and make a decision on how best to preserve his memory.

Fans are adamant they should not just replace Luke with another actor to play Fred because this will tarnish his memory.

They will have to wait and see how Luke’s memory is preserved and also how Edgar Evernever’s introduction will change Riverdale life forever.

Riverdale season 3 continues Wednesday night on The CW in the US, and Thursday morning at 9am on Netflix in the UK.
