Police arrest ten 'ISIS terrorists’ over ‘plots to use car and guns to kill’ in Germany

The suspects, aged between 20 to 42, were under investigation after police carried out raids around Frankfurt, in Germany, on Friday. German prosecutors said the main aspects were two 31-year-old brothers from Wiesbaden. They are believed to be associated with the Islamist Salafist community in the region.

Another suspect was a 21-year-old man from Offenbach, which is a city near Frankfurt.

But no other detail have been revealed on the other suspects’ nationalities.

Prosecutors in Frankfurt issued a statement that read: “They are believed to have agreed to carry out an Islamist, terrorist attack using a vehicle and guns that would kill as many ‘non-believers’ as possible.

“To prepare the attack, they had already made contact with different arms dealers, rented a large vehicle and collected financial assets to use for the purchase of guns and the execution of the planned murders.”

The suspects allegedly contacted weapons dealers and had hired a ‘larger vehicle’, according to FNP.

Police also seized 20,000 euros (£17,000) and a number of knives.

The raid was so extensive it also required the help of 200 police officers.

Documents and electronic data were also taken to be used as evidence.

The last time Germany experience a major terror attack was in 2016.

Anis Amri killed 12 people after driving into a crowd at the Berlin Christmas Market.

ISIS later claimed responsibility for the attack.

Amrit fled to Italy following the attack, but was shot by police near Milan four days later.
