Emmerdale’s cancellation and rescheduling has led to a number of soap viewers taking to social media in outrage.

One soap fan said on Twitter: “Can not believe there is no Emmerdale or Coronation Street because of some football match — feeling sad.”

A second Emmerdale fans echoed the disappointment and said: “@emmerdale not happy Emmerdale won’t show due to football.. sports should have their own channel.”

While a third agreed: “#Emmerdale no more till Tuesday cos (sic) of bloody football. Can’t they show it on ITV Two, Three, Four, or none?”

While fans may be waiting four days for their next instalment from the Dales, they will be treated to an hour-long special on Tuesday, March 26 when it returns.
