Coronation Street cast: Faye Brookes causes stir for posting praise after dramatic scenes

Faye Brookes, 31, broke the hearts of many viewers as she tearfully held fiancée Rana Habeeb (played by Bhavna Limbachia) in her arms and watched her tragically die following the Underworld factory roof collapse. It has since been reported the actress has uploaded a series of posts to her Instagram account from fans who praised her dramatic performance on the soap. A source told The Sun: “A few eyebrows have been raised among the more level-headed members of the cast, that’s for sure. “A few people are scratching their heads about why Faye is milking the limelight so much. In fact, she’s creating her own publicity.

“At the end of the day she was doing her job, like any of the cast. It’s what they do day in day out. All these posts she’s putting up from fans about how great she is are just self-glorification.”

They continued: “And all the stuff with Gareth in London. It was like she’d won an Oscar or something. She needs to tone it down a bit and remember she’s in Corrie. She’s no Meryl Streep.”

It comes after her beau Gareth Gates, whisked the actress to London to celebrate the dramatic episode. have contacted ITV and Faye Brookes representatives for a comment.

Nevertheless, fans have flocked to Twitter to praise the Coronation Street actress for her emotional performance in Wednesday night’s episode.

One person said on the micro-blogging site: “@FayeBrookes deserves an award.”

Another person said: “Well I am officially heartbroken after last night’s episode. Rana will be missed but never forgotten, we will all miss you in the show but I am excited to see what they will do with Kate after she waited so long to be with [email protected]_Brookes @BhavnaLimbachia love you both xxx” (sic)

While a third person added: “@FayeBrookes you’re an amazing actress, love watching you.”

Faye’s beau Gareth heaped praise on the actress following the heartbreaking scenes but it was faced with some controversy.

Moments before the upsetting scenes are believed to have aired, Gareth took to Instagram and Twitter to post a video of himself and Faye discussing the episode, complete with the caption: “So proud of my lady @faye_brookes in @coronationstreet – such amazing TRUE acting. Sad to lose the beautiful and incredibly talented @bhavnalimbachia.”

Unfortunately, he neglected to realise that he had actually unveiled Rana’s untimely demise ahead of time, as Corrie fans hadn’t yet seen the conclusion of the plot.

Viewers who spotted the post, which appeared on the social media app at 8.42pm during Coronation Street’s ad break, were furious at the Pop Idol star’s mistake.

One fan kicked off at the star, writing: “B****y hell spoiler.”

Another exclaimed: “Oh god, you’ve just given it away.”

A Corrie viewer commented in despair: “Oh Gareth, you are gonna get some stick for this!!!!” with an eye-roll emoji.
