Hanna on Amazon Prime cast: Who is in the cast of Hanna TV series?

Hanna on Amazon Prime premieres on Friday, March 29 with every episode dropping online at once. The cast for Hanna is led by relative newcomer Esme Creed-Miles, but she’s joined by a number of Hollywood heavyweights such as Joel Kinnaman and Mireille Enos. Here’s all you need to know about the rest of the cast of Hanna and what they made of the roles.

Who is in the cast of Hanna on Amazon Prime?

Hanna – Esme Creed-Miles

Esme Creed-Miles plays the title character of Hanna in the Amazon Prime TV series.

The 19-year-old’s biggest role prior to Hanna came in the Ruth Wilson and Sean Bean-led drama Dark River in 2017.

Speaking to Express.co.uk and other media at a private screening of Hanna, the actor revealed how she landed the role.

She said: “I wasn’t like sent the script – I had to do a ton of auditions.

“It’s just such a great opportunity for an actress, it was just insane. Obviously, I’d seen the film and it was awesome so it’s just really cool.”

Erik – Joel Kinnaman

Swedish-born Joel Kinnaman, 39, plays the role of Hanna’s protective father Erik in the Prime series.

No stranger to DC Comics fans for his part as Rick Flag in Suicide Squad, Kinsman’s CV also include roles in Netflix Original series Altered Carbon and Nordic noir drama The Killing.

Kinnaman said of his new role: “David’s [creator] writing is just always so nuanced, layered and sparse so it’s just really good material to dive into for an actor.

“For me, the big challenge on this project was the language – we were talking about it early on because, originally, the script was all in English.

“I was a proponent for making it into its natural language and, you know, be careful what you wish for because then the decision was made later on to have it in its natural language which meant I had to do 20 scenes in German.

“I don’t speak a word of it, and, not only speaking German but being a German-speaking German. That was a big challenge for me was to get the language right but, when the material is so well written, it’s easier, it kinda plays itself.”

Marissa – Mireille Enos

Another star of The Killing, Golden Globe-nominee Mireille Enos, 43, portrays the vengeful Marissa as she hunts down Hanna and her father.

Enos spoke about reuniting with Kinnaman and said: “Well, we spent so many hours together over so many years that we became actual great friends.

“We’re playing people in this that have a long history so it just, so much of the work was done for us because we know each other so well.

“What we could do with a glance or gesture, it takes years to be able to get to that kind of comfort level.”

Sophie – Rhianne Barreto

Hanna isn’t just the first major role for Creed-Miles but also for Rhianne Barreto, who takes on the role of Sophie.

“I play a normal teenager with normal problems, with hormones, sweat problems, and swearing problems,” Barreto said.

She continued: “I just kind of bump into Hanna and Sarah [director] described our relationship as a romance so the whole time I was filming I was like: ‘This is a beautiful rom-com, I love it,’ – not realising that I was in a thriller of sorts.

“David gave me a lot of freedom to improvise so I was really lucky as I don’t think you get that much with TV.”

Amazon Prime viewers may recognise Barreto for her previous roles in Strike Back on HBO channel Cinemax and in ITV mini-series Little Boy Blue.

Tom – Phaldut Sharma

Soap fans in the UK will undoubtedly recognise Phaldut Sharma from his time on BBC’s EastEnders.

Globally, Sharma’s most notable role came in the Oscar-winning blockbuster Gravity alongside George Clooney and Sandra Bullock.

In Hanna, Sharman plays Tom, another person to cross paths with Hanna once she escapes into the real world.

Arvo – Aleksandr Gorchilin

Russian-born actor Aleksandr Gorchilin may only appear in the first episode, but he leaves a lasting impact on the character.

Arvo is Hanna’s first contact with the outside world having been sheltered in the forest by her father her whole life.

The actor’s best known for his roles in some of Russian cinema’s biggest blockbuster in recent years, including The Student and Ikariya.

Jerome Sawyer – Khalid Abdalla

Khalid Abdalla lands the role of Jerome Sawyer on Hanna having starred in a number of box office hits.

Abdalla appeared opposite Hollywood royalty Matt Damon in Green Zone and also starred in the BAFTA-nominated movie The Kite Runner.

Hanna is released on Amazon Prime on Friday, March 29.
