Donald Trump attacks ‘corrupt’ media in EXTRAORDINARY rant defending his use of Twitter

Trump told news media: “I think Twitter is the way that I can get the word in a corrupt media and it is corrupt and it is fake. Twitter is a way that I can get out the word. Our media is so dishonest, a lot of it, the mainstream.

“They don’t report the facts.

“It’s a way that I can get honesty out because it’s tremendous dishonesty with respect to the fake news media.”

Fox News spoke to Trump’s communications adviser, Marc Lotter, questioning the president’s social media use.

Mr Lotter said: “The president does celebrate his wins but the mainstream media does not.

“In a recent study I saw last year showed 90 percent of the coverage of president Trump has been negative.

“So, the average American who has been relying on the media is not getting the full sense of the jobs and the growing economy.”

Mr Lotter claimed Trump has 100 million people across his social media platforms which is around the same amount as the Superbowl audience.

He went on to compare Trump’s tweets to Superbowl adverts which get millions of views.

Trump has previously accused social media platforms of discriminating against Conservatives and other Republicans.

He claimed that executives of these companies harbour “hatred” towards “a certain group of people that happen to be in power, that happen to have won the election”.

He added: “I do think we have to get to the bottom of it.”

His tirade follows Facebook’s alleged blocking of his head of social media, Dan Scavino Jr.

Mr Scavino posted a screenshot of the block to his page and questioned why he was being silenced.

Facebook has since addressed the issue and said it was an “unintended consequence” of its spam policy.
