Black Widow release date, cast, plot – All we know so far about solo Black Widow movie

Black Widow has been a staple of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her solo movie has been in talks for a long, long time. In November 2018, a director was hired, and then there was radio silence – until a new tidbit of information was released today.

When is Black Widow out in cinemas?

Unfortunately, no release date has been confirmed by Disney.

The director hunt took a long time before landing on Cate Shortland (Berlin Syndrome).

Rumour has it the movie might be out in early 2020, but that would be a tight turnaround after Avengers: Endgame.

Clearly, the studio is hoping to do right by Black Widow fans.

What is the plot of Black Widow?

Back in 2016, Marvel’s Kevin Feige confirmed he wanted to explore Black Widow as a character.

“We think she’s an amazing character. We think Scarlett Johansson’s portrayal of her is amazing,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.

“She’s a lead Avenger and has amazing stories in her own right to tell that we think would be fun to turn into a stand-alone franchise.”

What that story entails, however, remains to be seen.

Who is in the cast of Black Widow?

Scarlett Johansson will reprise her role as Black Widow aka Natasha Romanoff.

Florence Pugh has joined the cast with The Hollywood Reporter describing her character as “a spy on the same level as Natasha Romanoff, likely her moral opposite”.

Stan said: “They have a very nice history in my opinion.”

“It’s very intricate… the truth is, he actually taught her in the comic books. He was a teacher to her.

“It’s all set during a specific, interesting time, the Cold War.”
