Pokemon Go Equinox event brings new Shiny Pokemon but no special Oddish finds

Pokemon Go Trainers have found out that more Shiny Pokemon have been added to the game as part of the Equinox Event.

Kicking off today to celebrate the start of Spring, the new Equinox celebrations will last until next week.

Pokemon Trainers have until March 26 to bag all the new bonuses that have been added, to the game, including whatever Shinies they are hunting.

Niantic confirmed last week that Grass-type Pokémon like Oddish, Exeggcute, Sunkern, and Shroomish would be appearing more frequently in the wild.

However, while many expected to see a few Shiny Oddish types to pop up, nothing has been reported yet.

What we do know is that Lunatone and Solrock have switched hemispheres and will stay in their new hemispheres after the event.

What Niantic didn’t reveal is that Shiny Solrock and Shiny Lunastone have also been added.

In another new bonus, Niantic has now permanently added two moves to the game, including Acid Spray for Arbok, Victreebel, Tentacruel, Muk, Alolan Muk, Quagsire, Qwilfish, Octillery, and Swalot.

The other attack, Leaf Tornado, has also been added for Victreebel and Shiftry.

Other Equinox bonuses include new Limited-time Grass-type Pokémon Field Research and additional Grass-type Pokémon Raid Challenges.

In terms of the new Research available in-game, players are reporting these new challenges to complete:

  • Evolve 2 Grass Type Pokemon – Tangela
  • Evolve 5 Grass Type Pokemon – Venusaur
  • Catch 10 Grass Type Pokemon – x1000 Stardust
  • Catch 3 Bulbasaur or Chikorita – Turtwig

The Stardust boost will no doubt prove popular with Trainers, with more bonuses expected to be discovered in the near future.

Will we get a shiny Oddish in the coming days? Trainers will have to keep an eye out for any new shiny additions.

Niantic does like to add new Shiny Pokemon during events, so there’s a good chance that more rewards will be revealed soon.

Fans are a little puzzled by the choice of Shiny Pokemon and with the lack of a release reason to catch more Oddish, especially when there is no shiny to hunt.

“Before this event, I saw 20 Solrock and 38 Lunatone. I might catch a Solrock if I’m lucky during this event, but Lunatone isn’t looking good,” one user writes.

“I was hoping for a shiny Oddish, Bellsprout, or Hoppit.”

Another adds: “What an incredibly disappointing choice. Great, so now there’s a shiny out there that the vast majority of players will never see until whenever they switch them back.

“Unless they bring them together like Plusle and Minun, but then why even bother with the whole thing?

“Also, no reason to catch the hoards of Oddish and Bellsprout that are now even more common.”
