Paul Hollywood weight loss: How the Great British Bake Off judge lost a stone

With contestants serving up an array of tasty treats for the judges on the Great British Bake Off, it could seem hard for Paul Hollywood to resist temptation. But, despite his job role as a celebrity chef and TV judge, the 52-year-old has spoken out about how he slimmed down in recent years. So, how has the TV star lost weight in the past? It seems that he decided to ditch one popular thing from his life.

It came after Paul announced in 2016 that he had plans to lose two stone.

So, what was his weight loss secret?

The TV chef ditched alcohol from his diet, and has previously credited this to his slimming.

In December 2017, he told The Sun: “I don’t have to go out now, I just drink water all day. I promise.

“It’s helped shift a few pounds too.”

The TV chef also watches how much he eats, and ensures he gets regular exercise.

His typical exercise routine would include boxing and weightlifting a number of times each week, Paul said in the past.

Speaking to the Daily Mail Weekend Magazine in April 2016, he said: “I’m on a healthy eating spurt right now.

“I’m not thin but I’m on my way there.”

However, Paul was quick to insist that his slimming efforts wasn’t a quick-fix diet, but instead, an alteration of his lifestyle.

“It’s not a diet,” he said. “I’m just reducing my calorie intake and I’m seeing a personal trainer and boxing and weightlifting about three times a week.”

At the time, Paul was losing around two pounds per week, he explained.

And, the publication reported that at the time of the interview, this had seen him slim by an entire stone in total.

But, while he admitted the aforementioned weekly weight loss was his “target”, the star explained that his motivation to make the changes in his life hadn’t been shifting the pounds.

“It’s not so much about losing the weight as being healthy,” he told the publication.

From one Channel 4 star to another, how did the Great British Bake Off host Sandi Toksvig lose four stone?

The comedian shrunk from a size 22 to a size 10 in just 12 months with the Louise Parker diet plan – which encourages daily exercise.

Slimmers on the plan are also advised to go sugar-free, and to reduce their intake of complex carbohydrates.

The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer continues tonight at 8pm on Channel 4.
