March Madness 2019 odds: THREE teams to challenge Duke, seven teams at 5000/1

The NCAA tournament gets underway on Tuesday night, starting with the First Four play-in games.

The opening week of March Madness is where the tournament earns it’s nickname with 34 games being played over the space of four days.

The games will be relentless with some shocks along the way and the top seeds tumbling.

Very rare does a low seed ever go on to win the NCAA tournament and the lowest-seeded team to actually go all the way was the 1985 Villanova squad, a No 8 seed.

They beat Georgetown, who listed Patrick Ewing as their star player, in arguably the biggest upset in March Madness history.

The law of averages suggest a No 1 seed will go on to win the tournament with Duke the heavy favourites.

But they will likely face heavy competition from Gonzaga, Virginia and North Carolina.

For those eager to back the outsiders, there are seven teams all available at an astonishing 5000/1 to win.

Purdue 40/1

Auburn 40/1

Villanova 50/1

Houston 50/1
