Voldemort RETURN? Harry Potter star Ralph Fiennes hints at Fantastic Beasts comeback

The actor played the fearsome villain in the franchise phenomenon, and said in a new interview that he’d have a hard time saying no if he was asked to reprise him. Of course Voldemort met his maker at the end of the Harry Potter stories, but the Fantastic Beasts movies – set in the past – are opening up fresh possibilities.

Speaking on Newsnight, Fiennes appeared coy when the interviewer assumed his Voldemort days were over.

“Well, there are variants, aren’t there? Fantastic Beasts and things,” he smiled.

When the interviewer asked if he “would like to do that”, he said: “I feel a kind of affection for Voldemort.

“So if there was a world in which Voldemort came back, I would be very possessive about wanting to reprise that.”

Fantastic Beasts 3, which has yet to start filming, is due for release in November 2020.

So could see Fiennes back as the antagonist once again? Or perhaps in one of the other movies in the planned five-strong series?

For now, his next project is presumably the next James Bond instalment – which is thought to be kicking off production next month.

However, in the same Newsnight chat, Fiennes said he has yet to set eyes on a finished script.

“I have been affectionately nudging [exec producer] Barbara Broccoli to send me a screenplay and I’m told it will be coming soon, and I know that Daniel [Craig] is playing Bond,” he teased.

“Honestly, I’m not being coy – I don’t know when it starts or what the story is.”

Bond 25 is believed to be Daniel Craig’s final outing as 007, with speculation over his replacement continuing to simmer.

Fiennes is promoting his new movie The White Crow, out now.
