Virgin Media has just fixed a major irritation with its broadband

Virgin Media customers were treated to a huge update last week which is aimed at boosting the connection within homes.

The upgrade, called Intelligent WiFi, is being pushed out to those with the latest Hub 3 routers and is totally free of charge.

This update uses a number of new technologies which should help to improve the overall Virgin Media experience.

One of the main updates is the ability to stop the Hub 3 suffering from interference from other routers.

This is especially important for people who live in flats or densely populated areas where lots of routers can all impact on one another.

The new update also includes something called Band Steering which always makes sure the right devices are connected to the fastest speeds.

Virgin is so confident in its new service it’s boasting that it has seen speeds improving by up to three times without the aid of a booster.

Although this update is good news for customers there is one other bonus of this upgrade which fixes a major irritation of home broadband.

That’s because Virgin Media’s new Connect app now instantly allows you to share the Wi-Fi password with family and friends via a simple QR code.

This not only makes it faster to access the web but should also end the nightmare of searching for the code on the back of the router.

Virgin says that it has added this feature to improve the customer experience but also to stop issues when people striating moving the router to find the magic password.

Lifting and twisting these devices can end up with wires becoming loose and connections being lost.

The Wi-Fi password sharing is not the only new feature of the Connect app as this new service also allows users to discover where Wi-Fi blackspot might be in their homes.

Customers can move around each room the app revealing if there’s a good or bad signal.

There’s even the option to pause the web on certain devices which could be perfect for families wanting to stop kids accessing the web at certain times.

The final feature of intelligent Wi-Fi is the option to add a booster to your home.

These plug straight into a wall socket and are free for VIP and Full House customers with everyone else being charged a rental of £3 per month.

Once installed, Virgin is confident that homes should be able to eradicate any blackspots.
