The Voice 2019: 'Heartbreaking' Fans in tears following tragic contestant story

The Voice 2019 is a tough situation for everyone involved, as each contestant has to fight for their spot on the show.

This fight is even bigger for Olly Murs’ contestant Jimmy, however.

During Jimmy’s rehearsal alongside Olly and his special guest Anne Marie, Jimmy dropped some harrowing news.

Jimmy performed Radiohead’s “High and Dry” which blew both Olly and Anne Marie away.

But then Jimmy explained that, after the first episode of The Voice which featured his performance his dad tragically passed away.

Jimmy’s father was extremely supportive of his quest to become a singer, and showed a lot of support to Jimmy during his blind audition.

With the weight of losing his father obviously on top of him, Jimmy broke down in front of Olly and Anne Marie – bereft with grief.

Olly hugged the performer as viewers began writing their condolences to Jimmy.

One viewer said: “Oh wow, that’s awful poor jimmy, he’s fab #TheVoiceUK.”

Another wrote: “Heartbreaking! After everything that got you here I hope your dad is watching and guiding you through to the next round #TheVoiceUK.”

While a third added: “Ooh god where’s the tissues? #Broken #TheVoiceUK.”

This also prompted a number of viewers to urge Jimmy to win the competition.

One said: “Hope #jimmy wins the #TheVoiceUK.”

A second agreed: “Such an incredible performance you definitely have the winner there #TheVoiceUK #TeamOlly.”

Earlier in the show viewers of the show were a little annoyed by Sir Tom Jones’ decision.

Sir Tom sent home Equipped to Overcome and Roger, taking Deanna to the next round.

And fans weren’t happy, with one writing: “I definitely disagree with Tom’s decision there. #TeamTom isn’t off to the best start. #TheVoiceUK.”

Another said: “#thevoiceuk oh goodness, it should have been Roger… I’d buy his music. I don’t love Deanna I’m afraid.”

A third added: “Really Tom? So disappointed. Either the Trio or Roger for me. Sorry. #TheVoiceUK.”

The Voice 2019 continues Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
