Nintendo Switch news: Good news and bad for rumoured secret games project

The Nintendo Switch is predicted to become the best-selling games console of 2019, beating the likes of the PS4 and Xbox One.

But for this to be achieved, Nintendo will need to continue offering up some great gaming projects.

There have been some promising rumours of late that Nintendo is working on with third-party partners to bring new games to the system.

However, some of these reports have already been ruled out, leaving the way open for something new in the future.

There were hopes that the Scalebound exclusive set to be released on Xbox One was being resurrected for the hybrid console.

This would have been a great turnaround for disappointed fans, especially since the game showed such promise when first revealed.

But while no one from Nintendo has moved to dispell this rumour, serious doubts have been raised that such a thing could happen.

Scalebound’s former producer, Jean Pierre Kellams, was asked about the rumour on Twitter, giving fans his take.

“I don’t know. I don’t work there anymore and haven’t talked to anyone about it, but I’d highly doubt this is a thing,” he wrote.

He also replied to another comment, this time focusing on how the IP ownership could cause a lot of issues for a revival.

“Me too. That and hardware differences. At that point, it makes more sense to just make a brand new game. It’s not like Scalebound was a beloved IP. It never got a chance to be that,” he added.

It should also be noted that PlatinumGames recently announced that they are working on a new IP for the Switch, called Astral Chain.

This rumour could be connected to hints going around that Nintendo is reviving a game that was officially cancelled.

However, until we hear more from Nintendo themselves, this new project may remain a mystery.

Another more promising rumour is that Persona 5 is coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2019.

Reports have been flying around that a special version of the game is being ported to the Switch.

The latest information comes from an online source and should, therefore, be taken with a big pinch of salt.

But if it proves correct, we could hear more about the upcoming Persona project for the Nintendo Switch before E3 2019.

There are also reports regarding the new Animal Crossing game which has yet to given a full release date.

A new report from The Loot Gaming claims that the new instalment in the Animal Crossing franchise will be arriving in September.

And if the game is being scheduled for launch in September, we can probably expect a lot of new information to be shared during E3 2019.

The new Animal Crossing game will be one of Nintendo’s main exclusives for the Switch this year, alongside Mario Maker 2 and Pokemon Sword and Shield.
