New Zealand mosque shooting: PM addresses nation – 'one of New Zealand's darkest days'

Speaking to the country in an emergency press conference in the wake of the attack, Jacinda Ardern insisted that it was one of her darkest days in the country’s history.

The Prime Minister said: “This is and will be one of New Zealand’s darkest days.

“This is as an unprecedented act of violence.”

At this point in time, Miss Ardern did not confirm the number of injuries or fatalities.

She did, however, claim that it was a “significant event”.
