Nebraska weather latest: BOMB CYCLONE hits Nebraska as freezing BLIZZARDS meet heavy rain

A swirling ’bomb cyclone’ has struck Nebraska, bringing with it weather conditions which have caused a danger to life. This type of cyclone is a low-pressure system that has undergone ‘bombogenesis’. Storms which undergo this weather phenomenon can cause a lot of damage and are generally associated with weather like blizzards and rain storms. They intensify rapidly as cold air from the north combines with warmer air from the southern gulf stream, and are now causing widespread chaos in Nebraska.

Nebraska has seen a number of extreme weather phenomenon since the bomb cyclone hit on March 14.

Twitter user Kim Rendon summed up the situation in a tweet, highlighting the danger posed by “historical” floods.

She said: “My heart is so heavy right now.

“Over 21+ counties have been evacuated due to historical floods, blizzards and hurricane force winds.

“And our country doesn’t know about it.”

Now, parts of the state have been warned of dangers posed by flash flooding, as levees (a type of flood bank) have been breached.

The National Weather Service says the following communities are affected:

– Southeastern Dodge County in east-central Nebraska

– Northeastern Saunders County in east-central Nebraska

The flash flood warning will last until 10.15am CDT (3.15pm GMT).

The flash flood warning means flooding to the specified areas is imminent or already happening.

Those living nearby flowing water such as rivers or creeks have been warned to take immediate action against the looming risk.

Precautions will be necessary to reduce risks to life and property.

The NWS has warned the flash flooding will be extremely dangerous and has issued advice for people in the affected areas.
