Simon Gregson: Coronation Street star ‘FURIOUS’ after wife Emma's ‘nose broken in attack’

Simon Gregson, who has played Steve McDonald in Coronation Street since 1989, is reportedly furious after his wife of nine years, Emma Gleave, was attacked. According to The Sun, the 44-year-old’s spouse was defending her brother when she was “punched in the face” recently. The actor’s other half is thought to have been out with her brother – who has learning difficulties – when a gang started picked on him. She is believed to have tried to stop them before being hit, and was reportedly taken to hospital.

A source said: “Emma has always been hugely protective of her brother. The two of them had done nothing wrong when this awful man started goading him.

“Emma wasn’t prepared to let that happen and tried to defuse the situation — but the next second she was punched in the face and left in a lot of pain with a bloody nose.”

The insider continued to the publication: ”What sort of bloke punches a woman? Simon was furious.

“If he got his hands on this bloke, God knows what would happen. But his first concern is for Emma.”

A spokesperson for the soap told The Sun that Simon and Emma did not want to comment.

The pair been married since 2010 and have suffered 12 miscarriages during that time, something the pair have spoken openly about.

Back in 2017, the Weatherfield favourite’s partner had an ectopic pregnancy, and surgeons saved her life.

Simon revealed what the pair had been through last year when his on-screen alter ego Steve lost a child with his wife Michelle Connor (played by Kym Marsh).

Emma told OK! Magazine: “The stigma has been removed from having miscarriages, but ectopic pregnancy isn’t discussed enough – I didn’t really know anything about it.

“The more you talk, the more you can help other people and spot the signs. It’s such a dangerous condition.”

They said they had resigned themselves to the fact that they will not have any more children, with Simon saying: “I think as Emma has come so close to death, that’s it for us.”

The couple share three boys, Alfie, 11, Harry, nine, and three-year-old Henry.

Meanwhile, it comes just days after EastEnders’ Hayley Slater star Katie Jarvis broke her silence after being “glassed” on a night out.

The 27-year-old reportedly required hospital treatment after she was attacked on Friday evening in London, The Mirror said.

She later took to Twitter, telling her 11,900 followers: “OK to put people’s minds and questions to rest.

“I am absolutely fine thank you so much for all your concern and checking in on me but I’m a soldier and been through hell of a lot worse.”

Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for Simon Gregson asking for comment.

Coronation Street continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on ITV.
