Pokemon Go news: Pokestop nominations update as fans prepare for Rayquaza Raid

Niantic has confirmed that they have started to roll out their new Pokestop nomination beta to a new location, albeit in a very limited form.

Pokemon Go players have seen a few iterations of the system, allowing players to nominate locations to have PokeStops added in-game.

The first beta test of the new PokéStop nomination system began in Brazil and South Korea last year and was limited to Level 40 players.

If you were a qualifying Trainer, it meant you could nominate potential PokéStops by submitting photographs and descriptions of the locations.

These submissions would then be reviewed by experienced users in the Ingress Operation Portal Recon (OPR) project.

And now it has been confirmed that Niantic is bringing their system to a new area, Indonesia.

It is still limited to level 40 players and it’s unclear if there are any more expansion plans for the beta.

A recent Niantic statement confirms that they plan to expand the program “over the coming months” meaning more updates should be announced.

“Eligible Trainers can submit a limited number of nominations each day,” Niantic confirms.

“If you do not use all your nominations within the day, you can accumulate a number of nominations for future use. You can view how many available nominations you have left within the settings menu.

“When you have completed your nomination, you’ll receive a confirmation email, and it will be sent for review by our community of nomination reviewers.

“We strive to process your nomination as soon as possible but, depending on the level of review needed, it may take several weeks or months. Once the community has made a decision regarding your PokéStop nomination, you’ll receive an update via email.”

This new update was announced by Niantic just before the start of the new Rayquaza Raid Weekend.

This new event is set to begin tomorrow, March 15, at around 8pm in the UK.

Trainers will be able to challenge Rayquaza until the same time on Monday, March 18, when it will be removed from the Raid Battle pool.

Rayquaza is a Dragon/Flying-type Pokemon which can be badly affected by Ice-type moves.

This means that Pokemon like Mamoswine and Lapras are particularly effective, as are other dragon types.
