Alex Jones: 'It's weird' The One Show host makes family admission

The 41-year-old BBC presenter and her co-host Matt Baker, also 41, were joined by radio star Sara Cox, 44, on the show last night to chat about her new book, Till the Cows Come Home: A Lancashire Childhood, which details her life growing up. The conversation soon turned to Sara’s journey from rural Lancashire to the more urban lifestyle of a BBC DJ. “You’re here now, you’re based in London, but you get the feeling, reading [the book], that you’re always slightly hankering to go back,” Welsh beauty Alex Jones said. “It’s funny, isn’t it, for all of us who have children in a city who come from the countryside? It is a bit weird,” The One Show favourite admitted about family life in London.

“Because you both do, don’t you?” Sara responded, nodding in agreement and gesturing to Alex and Matt.

“I always say I can’t live without my sheep,” Matt chipped in.

Alex joked Sara could fit just one solitary sheep in her garden if she really wanted to bring some of the country atmosphere to the city.

The One Show presenter is currently pregnant with her second child with her husband Charlie Thomson.

On yesterday’s instalment of the BBC programme, Alex dressed her blossoming bump in a pretty white blouse with ruffle detailing.

The button-down number was paired with black trousers for a smart casual evening TV look.

Last month, Alex Jones revealed concerns for her unborn baby when she shared a picture with her 143,000 Instagram followers which showed her in hospital.

She could be seen with a monitor on her stomach as she urged mothers-to-be to get checked if they were worried about the health of their babies.

“Hadn’t felt much movement from the baby from a few days ago,” she said. “So lying here being monitored.”

Reassuring her fans everything was okay, she added: “If in doubt mammas, always check! So reassuring to hear the heartbeat.”

She later shared an update, saying: “All was fine at the hospital. His or hers little heartbeat was going like the clappers but good to check.”(sic)

Alex and Charlie are already parents to two-year-old son Teddy.

She previously announced her second pregnancy live on The One Show in December.

At the end of the show, she declared: “Now, I have some news. No, I haven’t been eating all the mince pies — there is a little baby!

“Look!” she exclaimed, turning sideways to show off her bump as the cast and crew cheered. “I am expecting another baby.”

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
