Updated P20 Pro may not be the only new device to come from Huawei

Huawei P20 Pro will be succeeded when the Chinese firm takes to the stage in the French capital of Paris to discuss the P30 Pro on March 26.

Huawei P30 Pro has been heavily rumoured to build upon the solid foundation the P20 Pro laid by presenting Android fans with a host of notable upgrades.

First and foremost, the new Chinese device is expected to come with four cameras on its rear compared to the three currently present on the P20 Pro.

Moreover, Huawei has already confirmed the P30 Pro will employ a periscope-style camera system that should allow it to deliver an improved zoom.

In fact, Huawei’s CEO, Richard Yu, has already posted an image online taken from a P30 Pro that displays its zooming prowess.

Yu displayed a picture of the moon’s surface that boasted laudable levels of detail.

Since the photo’s emergence, Huawei’s VP of Global Product Marketing, Clement Wong, has insisted the shot was taken handheld using the product.

Alleged press shots recently emerged of the P30 Pro courtesy of WinFuture and displayed the handset with an all-screen design and a small notch at the top.

No physical fingerprint scanner was shown on the hardware, suggesting Huawei may opt to embed it underneath the flagship’s screen, just like on the Mate 20 Pro.

While rumours have been ripe surrounding Huawei’s next series of smartphones, it appears the firm may be lining up two new wearables to show off later this month, too.

WinFuture has claimed the Chinese OEM is preparing to launch two new versions of its Watch GT.

The German publican stated one would be dubbed “Huawei Watch GT Active” and the other would be called “Huawei Watch GT Elegant”.

WinFuture posted images of the claimed Huawei Watch GT Active that appeared to look incredibly similar to the currently Watch GT model already sold by the Chinese firm.

It was emphasised both new models of the wearable will come with the same 1.39-inch OLED display as the previous generation.

WinFuture noted it expected both new variants of the watch to come running Huawei’s own proprietary operating system and not Google’s Wear OS, just like the current Watch GT.

It was not noted if either the Huawei Watch GT Active or Elegant will boast any new software features for fans to get excited about.

Finally, WinFuture was eager to detail the supposed pricing for each timepiece.

It said the Huawei Watch GT Active will launch for €249 (£212.96) and the Elegant will be priced at €229 (£195.85).

We reviewed the original Huawei Watch GT at Express.co.uk and was full of praise for its array of fitness features.

However, we did note the hardware was lacking in terms of pure smartwatch functionality.

Express.co.uk said: “The Huawei Watch GT is a great fitness and health tracker that ultimately forgets to deliver basic smartwatch functionality.

“The wearable’s distinct lack of notification interactivity and third-party applications is simply impossible to ignore.

“And while the device is an accomplished workout companion and provides scores of health information, it is certainly not for everyone.”

While the new leak appears to suggest new models of the wearable are set to debut at Huawei’s scheduled hardware event on March 26, it is worth noting nothing about such products has been officially confirmed.
