The Chase: 'Is it too late?' Bradley Walsh speechless as Mark Labbett takes swipe at host

Bradley Walsh, 58, welcomed some new contestants as well as some returnees to the third celebrity edition of The Chase this week, all hoping to get their hands on some cash to donate to their chosen charity.

Tonight’s panel included the likes of TV presenter and former The Chase contestant Suzi Perry, 48, former X Factor judge and past ITV quiz show player Louis Walsh, 66, Medical correspondent Mark Porter, 56, and legendary actress Rosemarie Ford, 57.

After the first contestant Suzi completed her cash builder round, Bradley introduced Mark Labbett, 53, as the Chaser to take on the players.

However, it wasn’t until GP Mark faced the Beast, the Chaser made a dig at Bradley over the long running joke the host looks quite similar to comedian Brian Conley, 57.

The moment arose when Bradley asked both Marks: “What Tom Cruise film features the line, ‘I feel the need…the need for speed!’?”

Bradley went on to present the pair with the possible answers; A. Days of Thunder, B. Top Gun, or C. Mission: Impossible.

With both the Chaser and medical correspondent choosing Top Gun, Bradley began discussing the Days of Thunder film, believing actor Ben Stiller, 53, was the leading man, not Tom.

Pretending to be annoyed by Bradley’s quip, the Chaser hit back at the host, joking: “Is it too late to get Brian Conley?”

As the audience and contestant chuckled away, Bradley was taken aback by the comment before revealing the seemingly obvious answer to the question.

However, GP Mark also sent the host into a panic during his round of questioning against the Chaser as he locked in his answer to another question with a second to spare.

Although Mark did give the answer, Bradley raised his voice at the contestant, exclaiming: “Mark, press the button! You’re going to run out of time.”

Though the GP managed to sail through to the final chase along with the first contestant Suzi, who made it back to the players’ panel after facing the Chaser with £7,000 in the jackpot.

Next up, it was actress and The Generation Game host Rosemarie, who only managed to accumulate £2,000 during her cash builder round.

However, her luck didn’t improve as she lost out to the Chaser with Louis following in her footsteps as he also failed to make it through to the final chase.

This meant it was up to GP Mark and Suzi to try and beat the Chaser in the final round, hoping to donate a share of £13,000 to their chosen charities.

Both Mark and Suzi managed to accumulate a gap of 23 steps between the jackpot prize and the Chaser and it soon became clear the Beast wasn’t going to beat the pair.

With time on their side, Mark and Suzi managed to beat the Chaser with four steps left between the Beast and the cash prize, meaning the pair walked away with £6,500 each to donate to charity.

On yesterday’s edition of the show, Bradley was left gobsmacked when Chaser Sean Wallace, 58, got the answer to a question regarding the method of making dauphinoise potatoes incorrect, revealing he’d accidentally pressed grated instead of sliced.

However, it wasn’t until the next question when Sean tried to explain the answer did the pair end up speaking over one another as the host teased the quiz master by not letting him talk.

“Why are you shouting?” Bradley exclaimed, before adding: “What is the matter with you? Just because you got grated potatoes,” referring to the previous question.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
