Piers Morgan: 'It’s rubbish!’ Lily Allen addresses their spat after he refuses interview

Piers Morgan, 53, is known for being outspoken on all manner of issues via social media and fans may recall he and Lily Allen’s, 34, Twitter spat over gun crime, which took place last year which saw her appearance on the ITV show Good Morning Britain reportedly cancelled. The It’s Not Fair hitmaker has since admitted she would “never say never” to going on the show but claims he would try and “humiliate” her. Speaking to the Metro, Lily said: “Never say never, but some people think it’s quite funny, the Piers Morgan attitude – he says it how it is. It’s not, it’s rubbish. “I’m past the point of wanting to go on there and speak with him in a jokey way, on a massive platform and have him try to humiliate me.”

She continued: “There are vulnerable people that suffer as a consequence of the things he says so flippantly. I wouldn’t want it to be jokey. I would have to approach it from a different angle and I don’t know if I’m up for that.”

This comes after the singer slammed the presenter early last year after the two came to blows on Twitter about gun crime in London.

Piers took a swipe at Lily for wearing a necklace shaped like a machine gun.

In view of his 6.5 million followers, the broadcaster asked: “Why have you got a machine gun around your neck?”

After a heated exchange back and forth, the journalist then announced he refused to interview the singer until she became a “hit” and the mother-of-two released a video saying she’d been cut from the programme.

At the time, the GMB host informed his followers as to why she would not be appearing on the show.

Piers tweeted: “Hi Lily, I told the team I wouldn’t interview you until or if your new album is a hit. So, probably never.

“Sorry to disappoint, love Piers.”

Lily hit back: “There would be no incentive to come and talk to you if an album was already a commercial success.

“That’s not how promotion works. Nice try though, we all know you’re a p**** who can’t back it.”

Meanwhile, Piers spilled the details of his co-star Susanna Reid’s encounter with an A-list celebrity and her “joy” at receiving a compliment from the star.

The duo who recently flew out to LA for the Oscars ceremony last month, spoke about Susanna meeting actress Renée Zellweger, who complimented her on her stunning gold gown.

Piers wrote in Event Magazine: “Renée, who worked with GMB’s team during filming of her last Bridget Jones movie, passed us on the hotel red carpet, stopped and exclaimed to my co-host, ‘You look fabulous!”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
