Game of Thones season 8 spoilers: Arya Stark to BETRAY Jon Snow in final twist?

Game of Thrones has a number of options lined up ready to take on the Iron Throne in the final season.

While Cersei Lannister (played by Lena Headey) currently sits in King’s Landing as the ruler of Westeros, it will likely not last.

Viewers know Jon Snow (Kit Harington) has the noblest claim for the Iron Throne – as he was born from Lyanna Stark (Aisling Franciosi) and Rhaegar Targaryen (Wilf Scolding).

This give him the right to claim the throne as his own – however he is currently fighting alongside Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) to claim the throne.

But as no-one really knows what is going to happen, each and every fan has their own theory as to what is to come in the final season.

GlobalWebIndex recently conducted a study among 1,516 users to reveal who they believe will be left on the throne in the final moments of the show.

The results show that 25 per cent of viewers believe Jon Snow will be landing on the throne in the show’s final moments.

However he isn’t alone, as he is quickly followed by another fan-favourite as Daenerys sits slightly behind with 15 per cent of the votes.

Although it would certainly make sense for the new couple to take the throne together, viewers may see a relationship at war.

Surprisingly, the third spot for the vote doesn’t display anyone as the winner of the game of thrones.

Many horrific situations are on the way for the Game of Thrones residents, and they may become wrapped up in the little matter of “the end of the world” to worry about a chair.

With this in mind, 12 per cent of voters believed the throne would be left empty as the story ends.

Perhaps the most unexpected option on the list is number four – Arya Stark (Maisie Williams).

Arya has not yet expressed any interest in becoming the ruler of Westeros – however she may have a great chance.

Arya has already shown off her incredible assassination skills – could a situation arise whereby she is given the opportunity to take the throne in secret by killing off whoever is left?

If so, would she betray her brother Jon to get the power in the final moments?

Meanwhile many fans of the show believe Arya will eventually marry Gendry (Joe Dempsie).

Their union would bring together the houses of Stark and Baratheon, therefore potentially uniting the country.

But will they both survive long enough to do so?

Game of Thrones season 8 returns April 14 on HBO in the US, and the next day on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
