WWE RAW: Why John Cena or The Undertaker should retire Kurt Angle at WrestleMania

Angle will have a retirement match at WrestleMania on April 7 at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey but his opponent is currently unknown.

But based on the current situation it would be more logical to have the 1996 Olympic Gold Medallist face off against fellow WWE legends The Undertaker or John Cena.

Most of the active roster’s top stars, like Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre, AJ Styles, Randy Orton and more, already seem set for other plans at Mania and won’t be able to give The Olympic Hero his last hurrah in the squared circle.

The Olympian may also not be able to keep up with his much younger counterparts at the age of 50.

Therefore, it would be more reasonable to have the six-time world champion battle a fellow legend from either the Attitude Era or the Ruthless Aggression period.

Cena and Undertaker are two of the biggest attractions in WrestleMania history and fans would love to see them perform in the Show of Shows.

The Leader of the Cenation seems set to be added to the match card but things are a lot more uncertain regarding Undertaker.

The chances of both superstars sharing the ring with active roster members seem very unlikely at the moment as Cena won’t be available for WWE TV until April 1 due to his busy Hollywood schedule and Taker is well past his prime.

That is why a historic bout against Angle would suit them better.

Both wrestling greats also have a long history with the ex-WWE Champion and had some stunning encounters with him throughout the years.

Cena’s first ever match with WWE was against Angle in 2002 and they both put together a marvellous display.

During the next few years the two legends battled for the WWE Championship and built a strong bond together.

That is why Angle asked the 16-time world champion to induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017.

Undertaker also had a number of battles with The Wrestling Machine ever since the latter’s debut in 1998.

Their greatest match arguably took place at No Way Out 2006 where Angle barely managed to pick up the win.

There was talk in the past that they would also face at WrestleMania and the Olympian would become the first ever superstar to end The Phenom’s undefeated streak at the Grandest Stage of Them All.

All three superstars are past their prime but this sort of match doesn’t have to be an amazing technical display.

This is the sort of fight in which ring psychology will be crucial and will be the major factor that will help the bout to live in infamy.

All three wrestlers are masters of that art and know exactly how to work the crowd in The Showcase of the Immortals.

Their name-value would also attract tremendous attention and ratings for the show especially from the older fans who will get on board thanks to the encounter’s tremendous nostalgia factor.

As the weeks roll on the three WWE greats’ WrestleMania status will become more clear.
