The END for Nancy Pelosi? US speaker ‘LOSING CONTROL’ of Democrats says White House aide

The Democrats are deeply divided into two factions over the issue of US President Donald Trump’s impeachment. White House staffers have seized on the split with Ms Sanders using it to claim speaker of the Lower House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, is starting to lose control of her party.

According to Fox News, addressing the press on Tuesday Ms Sanders said: “I think Nancy Pelosi is clearly already starting to lose control of her party.

“I think we’re seeing that on a lot of things that have taken place over the last couple of weeks.”

Ms Pelosi has been a vocal critic of the suggestion of impeaching Trump.

The formidable Democrat Speaker has argued attempts to derail the President without compelling evidence would only split the nation and cause social and political disarray.

She told the Washington Post on Monday: “Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country.”

But the Speaker’s stance puts her at odds with certain members of her own party who would see the President’s imminent downfall.

Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) has become notorious for calling for impeachment since the day Trump was elected.

Recently her calls have been joined by Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), one of two Muslim women elected to Congress in November, who vowed in January to work to “impeach the motherf**ker”.

Ms Pelosi’s position is backed House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD), who said “the distraction would be major,” Fox News reports.

Speaking to Fox News, Ms Sanders said she was “glad Ms Pelosi sees what the rest of us see, that there’s no reason, no cause for impeachment”.

Ms Sanders said: “Nobody wants to see President Trump impeached, other than Democrats in Congress who are failing, who have no other message, and that’s because our country is doing better.

“I know that this is hard for them to run against in 2020.

“And I think they’ve got a very, very hard, uphill battle ahead of them.”
