Apple March event confirmed – New AirPods, iPad and movie service could launch soon

After weeks of rumours and speculation, we finally know when Apple will make its next big announcement.

The US technology firm has just sent out invitations to the world’s media and Monday, March 25 is the date that Apple fans need to put in their diaries.

It’s currently unclear exactly what will be revealed at the launch with some expecting new AirPods, iPad and AirPower charging pad to be revealed.

Apple’s in-ear headphones and smaller tablet are both due an upgrade and fans have been waiting for the AirPower pad to get an official release after it was first shown to the world back in 2017.

However, some reports have also speculated that no new devices will be revealed at the event with Apple using the keynote to release a new movie streaming service and premium news subscription.

To add fuel to this rumour the invite, sent out by Apple, shows an image of an old-fashioned cinema screen with a countdown clock.

The short clip ends with the famous Apple logo and the words “It’s show time.”

It’s been pointed out by BuzzFeed’s technology editor, John Paczkowski, that Apple used the same tagline in 2006 for the event at which it previewed what would become Apple TV.

There’s no word on how this new entertainment platform will work but it could be similar to services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video with users paying a monthly fee to gain access to content on demand.

Apple already offers a pay monthly subscription for its Music service and video could be next.

We’ll find out more on Monday, March 25 with the event taking place at Apple’s HQ in Cupertino from 10am local time – 5pm GMT.
