Stockholm 'EXPLOSION' – plumes of black smoke 'COVER' city after bus bursts into flames

A bus has exploded according to Tony Frank, the management operator at the Stockholm Fire Department. The explosion occurred at Klaratunneln in the middle of Stockholm city. Huge plumes of black smoke are hovering over the Swedish capital.

The number of people injured is still unclear.

The bus is believed to have struck the roof of the Klaratunnel and the gas tank exploded on impact.

The bus was not in service and did not carry a passenger.

Eyewitness Björn Wallentin said: “I heard a big bang first and then several smaller ones.

“It seemed like a scaffolding collapsed.”

Then he saw the dark smoke.

“I thought it was a terrorist attack,” he added.

The police have blocked off in the area around Tegelbacken and the Klaratunneln in central Stockholm.

The emergency services still fought against the flames 40 minutes after the explosion.
