Captain Marvel end credits scene: What does THIS mean for Avengers Endgame?

WARNING SPOILERS FOR CAPTAIN MARVEL AHEAD

Brie Larson’s solo movie launched this weekend and featured two end credits scenes. While the second one was a light-hearted joke with Goose, Captain Marvel’s mid-credits scene was the one to tease Avengers Endgame. The scene saw Captain America, Black Widow, Bruce Banner and James Rhodes monitoring Nick Fury’s pager at the Avengers HQ.

In Captain Marvel, we saw Carol give Nick an advanced version of his pager in 1995 before heading off back into outer space.

Given as a way of contacting her in an emergency, we saw Fury activate the pager in the present day before turning to dust in the Avengers Infinity War end credits scene.

So in Captain Marvel’s mid-credits scene the surviving Avengers have somehow found the pager and have been monitoring it in the hope that it will contact someone who can help them in Endgame.

Suddenly, Captain Marvel herself – who hasn’t aged and has a new hairstyle – arrives in front of them asking for the whereabouts of Fury.

Clearly, Captain Marvel will play a key role in Avengers Endgame.

It’s no coincidence that the two solo movies set prior to, and released in-between, Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame were Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel.

Something about these two movies are no doubt the clues for the Avengers’ plan to reverse Thanos’ Snap.

Ant-Man and the Wasp heavily featured the Quantum Realm, and the first Avengers Endgame trailer saw Scott Lang arrive at Avengers HQ with the Quantum tunnel van – so presumably the survivors will be travelling through that dimension to the past or multi-verse.
