April the giraffe LIVE cam: 'BIG MOMENT' near in 'interesting next 12 hours' on livestream

April’s due date remains a mystery to Animal Adventure Park in upstate New York but April’s carers expect developments in the coming hours. On Sunday morning UK time, March 10, the Harpursville zoo said all behaviour points towards the giraffe giving birth soon. April’s keepers said in a Facebook post just after midnight GMT, the next 12 hours promise to be the most interesting yet. Animal Adventure Park said: “Corey’s morning reports had Jordan and Dr Tim both reporting to the park and assessing April’s progression.

“All physical and behavioural signs indicate we are simply waiting for the big moment.

“The decision was made to apply extra bedding to the stall for the anticipated birth.

“More than days prior, viewers witnesses April’s behaviour being extremely off.

“Standing in one place, staring at the wall and simply not responding to activity around her.”

Giraffes, on average, are pregnant for 14 to 15 months, which is one of the longest gestation periods in the animal kingdom.

Because April’s carers could not pinpoint when she last became pregnant in 2016, the mystery of her due date became an instant viral sensation in February 2017.

Over the course of two months, millions of people tuned in to April’s YouTube livestream in anticipation of the moment she gives birth.

April finally gave birth to her fourth calf on April 15, 2017, which has to date been watched more than 15 million times on YouTube.

The zoo said April will most likely give birth before the end of March and all signs now point towards April giving birth soon.

April’s carers said: “Without question, we are there – it’s a matter of when.

“With darkness soon falling on the park, and many of our viewers, it should be an interesting next 12 hours!”
